Banner Ad
Banner Ads are online advertisements usually placed across the banner (the top 1/5) of a web page. Tile ads are the same basic idea as a banner ad, only smaller. Think of it as a half-page newspaper ad versus a tiny classified newspaper advertisement. A banner ad is graphic image, usually a JPEG or GiF file. Instead of selling advertising space by inches, like in a printed newspaper, websites sell advertising space by the pixel. A Banner Ad is usually 468 x 60 pixels. Tile ads can be any size, with 125 x 125 pixels being the most common.
Stylistically, a banner ad is usually centered across the top, which enables the largest number of Internet users to be able to view the banner ad on any sized screen (including iPods and cell phones).
