Gateway Page
A Gateway page (or Doorway page) is a type of webpage created for search engines that sends Internet traffic to a different page. Full of keywords, a Gateway page is a small, highly optimized page designed to pop up as high as possible on search engine results and attract a lot of visitors. It is also called a bridge page, due to its limited function of moving traffic from one page to another.
Gateway pages are often used in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to improve rankings and increase website traffic to a specific website. Gateway pages usually don't have content of use to human traffic; Gateway pages are full of keywords and are intended to attract the interest of search engines.
Often, when you click on a link that takes you to a Gateway page, you will be instantly redirected to another page instead. This may be done through JavaScript or Meta refresh, or the Gateway page may prominently display a link for you to click on ("For more information Click Here"). If the page automatically redirects you without your knowledge or consent, the web page is utilizing cloaking.
Gateway pages can be created solely for one specific keyword or phrase (such as a doorway page for "hand saws for sale"), or they can be more general (such as a doorway page for "tools" or "hardware store").
A Gateway page is also called a portal page, a bridge page, a jump page, a gateway page, and an entry page.
